Grains are the Group’s longest standing business.
The Platform's history and achievements have helped build our global reputation.
Today we are one of the world’s largest merchandizers of wheat and corn.
Our import and distribution network includes key consumption regions such as Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.
We manage the movement of grains all around the world from farm to fork, using our extensive logistics network.
Grains are grasses cultivated for their energy-rich fruit seeds. They can be stored year-round and constitute the basis of many countries’ traditional diets. An indispensable source of food in many developing nations, they also play an important role in the diet of developed nations.
Cereal grains are the most cultivated crops worldwide. As whole grains they are a rich source of vitamins, minerals, carbohydrates, fats, oils and protein.
North America, the European Union, Russia, Argentina and Australia are the primary origins for wheat exports. The US, Brazil, Argentina and the Ukraine are the primary origins for corn exports. The Middle East, Africa and Asia are the largest importers of wheat and corn.
Over 165 years we have developed a deep understanding of regional consumer needs and achieved strong penetration in all key destination markets.
We originate in all of the world’s major grain producing regions - the US, South America, Australia and countries of the Black Sea - and manage a large import and distribution network in key consumption regions such as Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Our network of processing, storage and distribution assets across the globe is highly developed and increases our control of product flow from farm to fork. Our excellent geographical coverage, strong fundamental understanding of the grains market, risk management practices and market insights all help to maintain our leadership position.
In recent years we have captured an increasingly larger share of exportable surpluses from South America and the Black Sea region as global trade volumes grow. Our origination and export facilities have been further boosted by the addition of operational port facilities in Bahia Blanca, Argentina and our newly-developed export elevator in the Gulf of Mexico at the Port of Greater Baton Rouge, Louisiana, US.
