Our vision is to create a safe workplace wherever we operate around the world, with minimal impact to the environment, and ensuring that our people, as well as any third party working with LDC, return home safely and without injury every day.

In addition to providing all necessary protective equipment and duty-specific training to ensure the safety of our employees, we are constantly investing in safety enhancements to protect them. We also make sure that our facilities are built and maintained to operate safely, for the protection of our employees, contractors, visitors and the environment.

At the same time, recognizing that every individual plays a key part in making that vision a reality, we expect our employees around the world to take personal responsibility for ensuring safety in their workplace.

In practice, this means employees at all levels are responsible for the effective implementation of SHE policies and procedures, complying with applicable laws, regulations, rules and codes. In parallel, LDC’s Site Managers and dedicated SHE Managers in our industrial, logistic and agricultural units are accountable for ensuring consistent implementation of LDC’s safety and health programs, adopting industry standards where applicable.

Celebrating LDC’s Global Safety Day

Each year, we hold a worldwide LDC Safety Day, involving all employees at every site, office and asset. Teams around the world organize activities including presentations, on-site visits, talks by external experts, workshops, videos and more. The idea is to share and exchange while reinforcing the 10 health and safety principles we’ve established across the company.

Enhancing Safety in Belgium

Our Juice Platform has undertaken several projects to enhance site safety at our Ghent terminal in Belgium, including adding permanent platforms for safer maintenance work; creating fixed anchor points for ladders to guarantee stability for employees working at heights; and installing new emergency lighting, smoke detectors and extra fire extinguishers on all vessels.
