Engaging With Students in Australia

In January 2020, LDC hosted 90 students from St. Philomena’s School in New South Wales, Australia, who visited our Moree gin to discover more about our business and learn about sustainable practices.

Organized in the context of the students’ research project on ‘Food, Fiber and Sustainability’, the visit was an opportunity for the students to learn more about industries that contribute to the sustainable production of food and clothes.

Guided by two LDC experts working at the site, our visitors enjoyed an exclusive tour of our facilities while learning about cotton planting, harvesting and ginning

Sustainability was the focus of the day, as the students discovered how new technologies enhance cotton traceability, and how LDC’s environmental targets contribute to reducing water and electricity consumption, waste generation and greenhouse gas emissions.

“The Moree gin visit was a great experience for the children. They were fully engaged and encouraged to ask questions, which helped increase their knowledge of sustainability practices across the cotton industry. Thank you to LDC’s Moree gin for helping with our students’ agricultural research project”
