Louis Dreyfus Company Starts Operating New Crushing Line for High-Oil-Content Seeds in Timbúes, Argentina
Santa Fe, Argentina, January 29, 2026 – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) today announced the start of operations of a new specialized crushing line at its Timbúes agroindustrial complex, in Santa Fe Province, adding capacity to process high-oil-content seeds and further diversifying its local offering.
This investment enables the plant to process a broader range of oilseed crops – such as camelina, carinata, canola and sunflower – complementing the site’s existing soybean crushing capabilities and contributing to more optimal facility usage throughout the year, in line with seasonal availability of the various crops.
Thanks to this investment, the plant will be able to process the additional oil seeds into both meal and oil. The meal will be destined for animal feed, while the oil will serve for the production advanced biofuels such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and Hydrotreated Vegetable Oils (HVO), helping to bridge supply and demand gaps and, ultimately, supporting customers in pursuit of their energy transition commitments.
“The addition of these new processing capabilities in Timbúes not only enhances operational efficiency at the complex year round – it allows us to integrate a wider range of crops into our regional operations, for a more flexible and diversified offering to both domestic and international market customers,” said Fernando Correa, LDC’s Regional Head of Oilseeds for South & West Latin America.
The new crushing line and associated equipment enable LDC’s Timbúes plant to process up to 3,000 tons daily of additional oilseeds during periods of lower seasonal activity, alternating with the usual capacity to crush 7,000 tons of soybeans daily during the rest of the year. The investment includes the installation of equipment specifically designed for efficient processing of high-oil-content seeds, including five specialized presses, one rotary cooker, three vertical cookers, two impurity separators and two decanters.
As a regenerative agriculture practice, LDC supports the integration of intermediate crops within crop rotation systems – particularly brassicas such as camelina, cultivation of which has grown steadily in Argentina and the region. Since 2023, the company has been doing so through its camelina program with Camelina Company (Argentina) part of the Grapevine Energy group (formerly Global Clean Energy). The partnership is dedicated to expanding camelina cultivation across South America over the next decade.
