  • Overall Purpose and Objective of Position

    This position handles planning and executing shipments of multiple ingredients in a timely manner and supports the general back-office functions relating to the merchandising of North America Grain & Oilseeds Ingredients. This position will include servicing and maintaining customers to obtain documents, screen calls for the merchandising department and other customer service issues that require discretion.

    Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Process orders from customers and coordinate request with LDC warehouse and/or scale house.
  • Prepare and organize paperwork as required for shipments.
  • Assist with setting up carriers and maintaining documents and certificates.
  • Coordinate quality requirements from customers to the lab and operations teams.
  • Process ticket applications for multiple products, process invoices daily, freight matching, and filing.
  • Send past due statements and make collections calls regarding past due invoices.
  • Assist with weekly and monthly reporting to communicate performance of customers against contracts.
  • Maintain COI and kosher documents.
  • Utilize multiple systems to maintain carrier and freight information to assist with the coordinating of logistics for    multiple products for inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Assist with setting up new customers and sending commercial ready food grade documents.
  • Maintain daily communication, supports logistical services, and assists with accounting issues with suppliers and customers.
  • Work with sales, lab, and logistics teams to provide the best customer service possible.
  • Develop competence in LDC products’ markets and varying qualities.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Cross-train on other roles in the office.
  • Assist in merchandising product.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasional weekend work.

  • An associate degree is required, preferably in a Science or Logistics discipline.
  • Or 3+ years of experience working in a lab, logistics, or warehouse.

Experience

The following is the basic qualification: Experience in an office environment. 

The following is the preferred qualifications: Lab, Logistics or Food Grade Warehouse experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

The following are required:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professionalism when interacting with customers over the phone, email, and in person.
  • Attention to detail is critical
  • Manages a to-do list and prioritize workload
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize multiple responsibilities to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software, preferably MS Word and Excel

Equipment Used

  • Typical office equipment: PC, telephone, fax machine.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily climate-controlled office environment.  Periodic visits to industrial operations areas are necessary with exposure during such visits to variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions. Interacts closely with personnel in other departments and company locations, interacts closely with middle and senior level management, domestic travel to visit customers required (up to 30% at times).  Call-ins or the extension of regular working hours (50-60 hours per week) are occasionally needed to complete time-sensitive projects or respond to emergencies.  Some weekend work is required.

  • Exercises judgment, within established parameters, to arrive at appropriate logistics decisions and actions for the purpose of adding value to the firm; assesses risk pertaining to logistics.
