Santa Fe, Argentina,<\/strong> March 31, 2022 – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) reported today that 77% of the 2020\/2021 campaign soy processed at its General Lagos agro-industrial complex in Argentina was certified as sustainably sourced from land that has not been cleared after 2008, in accordance with 2BSvs<\/em><\/a> and EPA<\/em><\/a> requirements. The company also announced its commitment to increase this figure to 85% at General Lagos, for the current campaign ending in February 2023.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A joint effort between LDC and local producers, who must certify the origin of their production, this initiative is part of the company\u2019s commitment to help shape increasingly sustainable supply chains, acting through collaboration with other value-chain participants – in this case, to ensure documented soybean traceability to farm level, as a requirement for sustainability certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis process is a significant challenge and a great pride, possible thanks to the collective commitment of all value chain stakeholders, from farm to port,\u201d says Fernando Correa Urquiza, LDC\u2019s Regional Head of Oilseeds for South & West Latin America. \u201cWith over three quarters of soy received and processed in General Lagos certified as sustainably produced, LDC is a national leader in sustainable soy origination, and we are confident that we will rise to the challenge to increase the proportion of sustainable soy processed at the site even further. This will help drive awareness of sustainable soy production in Argentina and globally, in accordance with LDC\u2019s Soy Sustainability Policy<\/a> and global commitment to zero deforestation in all supply chains by the end of 2025<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LDC has also developed and recently <\/a>launched in Argentina a new digital platform to facilitate the process for producers\u2019 soy sustainability declarations. “Our suppliers will be able to sign their self-declaration from any device in just a few clicks – another positive step in our continual search for digital solutions with the potential to drive efficiency for our partners and support supply chain transparency,” added Fernando Correa Urquiza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
