Rotterdam<\/strong>, The Netherlands, <\/strong>March 25, 2020 – Louis\nDreyfus Company (LDC) announced today a research partnership with Barramundi\nAsia and Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory (TLL) to develop optimal aqua feed\nformulations for the rearing of Barramundi fish on a commercial scale. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tripartite agreement is the first collaboration to result from the Memorandum of Understanding between LDC and Temasek Lifesciences Accelerator (TLA)<\/a>, signed in November 2019 to support the commercialization of promising technologies for the advancement of agri-food innovation in the region. It also strengthens LDC\u2019s participation as a shareholder in Barramundi Asia, following Barramundi Asia\u2019s recent merger with Allegro Aqua, of which LDC held a 30% stake.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thomas Couteaudier, Head of LDC\u2019s South & Southeast Asia Region, says,\n\u201cIn line with LDC\u2019s growth ambitions to pursue downstream diversification and food\ninnovation through strategic partnerships, we are pleased to embark on this venture\nwith Barramundi Asia and TLL, which builds upon our strong relationship with\nboth partners. Peter Chia, CEO of TLL and TLA, says, \u201cWe hope to harness our collective\nknowledge in fish biology, behaviour and nutrition, to develop the next\ngeneration of precision fish feed that will address the twin goals of better\nfeed conversion ratios and environmental sustainability, giving consumers a readily\navailable and nutritious source of fish proteins. We believe that through this\npartnership, we will be able to significantly enhance the economic equation of\nfish farming through better genetics, improved feed, logistics and optimised\nfarming protocol to help pave the way for Barramundi to become the species of\nchoice for the tropics.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research program will involve developing and testing\nnew formulations that deliver benefits including improved feed efficiency,\nstrengthened immunity, and the practice of sustainable aquaculture through the\nuse of sustainably produced and healthier ingredients. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
