• Identify proteins that can create targeted structures or activities.
• Establish systems to characterize protein activities and mechanisms.
• Collaborate broadly and rapidly in with external collaborators
• Aggregate, contextualize and summarize data.
• Build strong R&D team for food ingredients and products that your team will discover and develop.
• Develop new methods to extract protein fractions from various sources for food applications, at scales from lab bench to pilot plant
• Evaluate fractionated proteins by performing analytical, textural, and sensory tests
• Collaborate with pilot plant and process engineering team to test and optimize protein down-stream processing methods at pilot scale
• Spearhead research aimed at deeper understanding and better control of interaction of components in protein-based composite materials.
• Experience in biophysical and biochemical mechanisms underlying food matrix interactions by proteins, as well as the general principles that drive them.
• Track record of publications and presentations indicative of candidate’s research in relevant areas.
• Demonstrated ability to conceive original ideas, articulate them clearly and design experiments to test them.
• Capacity to coordinate, supervise and perform experiments developing chemical, biochemical, physico-chemical characteristics.
• Ability and desire to work effectively in a team, leading and mentoring research associates, collaborating with fellow scientists and engineers, and setting an example of scientific excellence for the team.
• Ability to communicate clearly and to continually improve the visual display of quantitative information.
• English (Fluent)
• PhD in protein biochemistry, biophysics or related fields. MSc degrees will be considered given the evidence of PhD+ level of knowledge in the relevant areas.
