Lampung, Indonesia<\/strong>, May 27, 2025 \u2013 Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) today announced the inauguration of its new glycerin refining plant and edible oil packaging line in Lampung, expanding existing activities in Indonesia in line with the Group\u2019s strategic growth plans and continued commitment to the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LDC\u2019s new glycerin production plant, with annual production capacity of 55,000 metric tons, will help meet growing global demand for high-purity, USP-grade glycerin, strengthening LDC\u2019s competitive position as a supplier to the pharmaceutical, personal care and cosmetics industries that are key drivers of global refined glycerin demand, projected to grow at a 2.5% CAGR for refined glycerin from 2023 to 2040.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis inauguration marks an important step in the development of our Food & Feed Solutions business,\u201d said James Zhou, LDC\u2019s Global Head of Food & Feed Solutions and Chief Commercial Officer for the Group. \u201cThe new plant leverages existing synergies with our existing operations \u2013 in Lampung, as well as globally in the US and Europe, to expand our capacity and meet the growing needs of our customers for high-quality glycerin.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The site\u2019s new edible oil packaging line, meanwhile, has an annual packaging capacity of approximately 64,800 metric tons, and will leverage synergies with LDC\u2019s existing operations in Lampung to capture market opportunities for packaged edible oil exports, as well as the exploration of domestic opportunities which are in line with the country\u2019s goal to develop its downstream industry for palm oil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strategically located near key export hubs, the new facilities strengthen LDC\u2019s regional and global supply chain capabilities, enabling the company to help meet growing demand for higher value-added refined products, in line with LDC\u2019s strategy to diversify revenue streams through downstream integration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe are proud to expand our presence in Indonesia with this significant investment in Lampung, as we continue growing with the country, the world\u2019s largest glycerin producer and a strategic market for LDC,\u201d said Rajat Dutt, LDC\u2019s Country Head for Indonesia. \u201cThe two new facilities combined are expected to create 200 new jobs by the end of 2025, contributing to economic and professional skills development in the local Lampung community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
