On the contrary, IT is a\nkey function at LDC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a global organization, LDC has\nto respond to growing demand and evolving consumer expectations quickly and\nwith agility. Our IT function is central to that ability, and an enabler of our\ntransformation, with our IT Service Managers playing an instrumental part in\nthe development of business intelligence and data analysis capabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>So, what do IT Service Managers actually do?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Overseeing the implementation of IT\nprojects and services across LDC\u2019s network, and working closely with IT\noperations teams around the world, our IT Service Managers play an active role\nthat requires local and global interaction with other LDC colleagues, as well\nas creative problem solving and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Michael Bucciero, Jean-No\u00ebl Sonier\nand Carmelo Fiannaca shared with us what they like best in their roles as IT\nService Managers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Collaborative Approach <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For many of our IT Service\nManagers, the enjoyment lies in collaboration. Michael Bucciero, who is\nresponsible for LDC\u2019s applications portfolio in North America, explains how his\nperception of this job shifted when he started working at LDC 18 years ago: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhen I joined the\nGroup, I was worried about being stuck behind a desk and in front of an AS400\nfor the rest of my career. That\u2019s definitely not what\u2019s happened.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like many of our IT Service\nManagers, the success of Mike\u2019s job centers on the relationships he builds with\nhis colleagues, both locally and overseas. Every day offers an opportunity to\nconnect with operational teams worldwide, as he checks in on project advancement,\ndiscusses new requirements and brainstorms on new avenues to improve day-to-day\noperations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But in the midst of this excitement,\nthere is also time to slow down, says Mike: <em>\u201cI\ntypically grab a couple of different people to take a walk with me every day.\nJust 20 to 30 minutes to enjoy some fresh air and clear our minds.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Meet Michael - IT Service Manager, North America - LDC &amp; You\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/SFz_vye0dnc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Discovering Innovative Solutions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At LDC, we are constantly\ninvestigating and adopting relevant technologies with potential to improve our\nefficiency and output. It is the IT Service Manager\u2019s role to encourage a\nculture of research, experimentation and innovation within their teams. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And while sharing knowledge\ninternally is crucial, making the most of the experience and knowledge of our teams,\nwe also look outside the company, monitoring what markets, competitors and\nvendors are doing. This spirit of creativity, curiosity and innovation keeps us\nat the cutting-edge of what we do. Jean-No\u00ebl Sonier, IT Service Manager for\nGlobal Customer Services, explains:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cIf you want to join us\nin IT, you have to keep your mind open: to learn every day, to have fun and to\ntake risks. You need to take ownership of the subjects you\u2019re passionate about\nand, if you have an idea, not keep it to yourself. Carmelo Fiannaca,\nIT Service Manager in Analytics, Risk and Market Data, explains how his team\nmakes its mark: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cOur objective is to\nconnect the dots between business strategy, trading execution and IT solutions.\nWe stay very close to the business strategy, always seeking ways to support\nimplementation &#8211; particularly with analytics and business intelligence\nsolutions, which can really boost trading performance. We are satisfied when we\nsee our IT solutions giving our traders a competitive edge.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All our teams have the potential to\nmake a direct impact on our business strategy, processes or performance \u2013 and\nby helping to grow the business, they ultimately enable LDC to fulfill its\nmission to help feed a growing global population. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that is another big reason why our IT Service Managers love their jobs (and in some cases stick around for 18 years!).
