Reporting to Head of Wheat Research / Head of G&O South and SouthEastAsia (SSEA), this position assists in the generation of profit by providing traders with information pertaining to domestic and export commodity markets. This analytical role is responsible for maintenance, management and proactive update of information, and its synthesis/communication to the global team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Maintain and analyse all relevant data and provide input into trading strategy for SEA
- Provide, maintain, and update relevant SSEA crop production, consumption and imports of wheat/barley, with an emphasis on demand switches between various commodities (local vs. imported grains, substitution with rice & other feed grains), and on estimates of domestic crops of competing grains in SSEA
- Identify and propose trading opportunities based on the analysis of wheat/corn/other feedgrains’ relative competitiveness.
- Provide updates of regulatory, political and consumer preference changes affecting each commodity or downstream use of commodity
- Engage with internal and external information sources
- Leverage LDC market position and create relationships with a view to increase the inflow of relevant information available to the global commercial/trading team
- Ensure constant communication with different destination and origin teams to ensure flow of information related to SSEA flows within the Product Line. Participate to all relevant daily/weekly product line calls
- Develop a detailed analysis of feed and milling wheat import demand for the region
- Work with commercial team in SSEA to develop a detailed understanding of Southeast Asian feed and milling wheat demand
- Monitor and regularly communicate to the global team the wheat-corn spreads in the various SEA countries, as well as the impact of such price moves on feed wheat & corn demand
- Provide a breakdown by quality (feed / milling) of the import demand of all the SEA countries. Build and refresh databases such as milling capacities, domestic crops, vessel line up, market shares, etc
- Other duties as required
Experiences:
- At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience in agricultural markets, preferably bulk commodity export.
- Full understanding of balance sheet analysis including the factors which impact each component of the balance sheet.
- Ability to decide when and how best to communicate major balance sheet adjustments
- Understanding of the market and influence of other markets, including other domestic and international commodity markets
- Ability to source, aggregate, analyse, maintain up to date data and research material
- Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills and an open and inquiring mind
- Ability to interpret and analyse qualitative and quantitative information.
- Attention to detail and accurate data entry, including advanced Excel skills
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize quickly.

- Degree in Agricultural / Economic or related field
