Fruit Juice and Citrus Ingredients

From the healthy zest of orange in your breakfast drink to the delicious tang of lime in your evening cocktail, we have brought citrus fruits from grove to glass for over 30 years.

Rainforest AllianceCertifiedTM Frozen Concentrate Orange Juice (FCOJ) and Not-From-Concentrate (NFC) juices are two of the latest additions to our portfolio, joining standard FCOJ and NFC orange, lemon and lime juices.

Sustainability Efforts

Our juice production is a zero waste process, with every part of the fruit used.

In addition, we are making significant strides in measuring and improving our environmental footprint during juice production itself, across the following areas: industrial energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water usage and solid waste generation.

A key part of our sustainability efforts is our successful certification process and partnership with the Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade and other partners.

Not-From-Concentrate (NFC) Orange Juice

Our NFC orange juice is pasteurized by heating and cooling it to reduce microorganisms. No chemicals or preservatives are added to the juice at any point in our supply chain.

Oxygen dissolved in the juice is removed in a vacuum chamber process, which helps to preserve its precious vitamin C.

Our NFC orange juice is a ready-to-drink beverage that is 100% natural. It contains various minerals, vitamins and bioactive compounds such as phytochemicals, which are important components of a healthy, balanced diet.

From Concentrate Orange Juice (FCOJ)

Most of our orange juice is frozen and concentrated. Instead of pasteurising, we remove the water to save space, making it easier to transport overseas, while freezing it to preserve it on the journey.

FCOJ extract is approximately five times more concentrated than NFC juice. It is mainly used to produce reconstituted juice, by adding water, and in the production of nectars and soft drinks.

Lemon Juice

Our extensive operations in Brazil make LDC one of the largest sicilian lemon juice producers in the world.

Our lemon juice is extracted in the same way as our orange juice, by squeezing the fruits and separating the juice from the bagasse, seeds and peel.

The juice can then undergo evaporation in order to concentrate it, or be sold as single strength juice.

Both our concentrated and not-from-concentrate lemon juices are diluted in water and sold as nectars or soft drinks, or added to other fruit or vegetable beverages.

Concentrated lemon juice can be processed into ‘clarified’ juice, with no visible pulp, or ‘cloudy juice’, which contains up to 12% of pulp.

Lime Juice

As with our orange and lemon juice, our lime juice is extracted by squeezing the fruits and separating the juice from the bagasse, seeds and peel.

The juice can then undergo evaporation in order to concentrate it, or be sold as single strength juice.

Both our concentrated and not-from-concentrate lime juices are diluted in water and sold as nectars or soft drinks, or added to other fruit or vegetable beverages.

Concentrated lime juice can be processed into ‘clarified’ juice, with no visible pulp, or ‘cloudy juice’, which contains up to 12% of pulp.

Reduced Sugar Juice

Our product is made from not-from-concentrate (NFC) orange juice, presenting a 30% reduction in natural sugar content and more than triple dietary fiber content, while preserving original taste (Brix value) and vitamin C level. 

Natural Citrus Ingredients

We extract the From The Named Fruit oils, essences and aromas from oranges, lemons and limes, and have the expertise to concentrate the aromatic properties of these oils to deepen their flavor notes.

These citrus oils are commonly used as a natural flavor ingredient in the food and beverage industry, or as a natural fragrance agent in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry.

Dry Peel

A useful by-product of our Juice business is the dry peel from ripe oranges, lemons and limes, used for pectin extraction. Pectin is sold on to the food industry as a gelling agent, thickening agent and stabilizer in foods such as yogurt and ice-cream.
