The overall responsibility of the Laytime Specialist is to calculate Laytime accurately within stipulated time and eventually settle the same, following the fixture’s terms for Demurrage, Detention and Dispatch for all marine shipments executed, maintaining compliance with organization’s policies and procedures. The Laytime Specialist will work based on the inputs from the various trading desks, trade execution and maritime freight department.
- Check that all relevant documents are present to enable a proper calculation.
- Extract from contracts, Charter Parties, Statement of Facts, and other relevant document the data pertinent to the calculation.
- Enter data in software to calculate laytime.
- Compare and interpret results to show the salient points and/or the divergences with calculation presented by counterpart
- Inform logistic operator of results providing necessary details and expert opinions enabling a successful negotiation by logistic operator
- Follow up on issues and re calculate in coordination with logistic operator
- Maintain a report with time sheet done, amount, claimed, amount settled, date of finalization, date of receipt of funds and many other relevant details.
- Ability to understand the impact of change in the various elements during loading/discharging operation on the resulting demurrage/dispatch.
- Should be able to handle the negotiation part as well with various counterparties.
- Responsible for creating provisions, invoices, making payment, matching encashment in our accounting software ITAS for EMEA Sugar department.
- Intercompany reconciliations for laytime cost.

- MBA / PGDBM – International Business.
- 1-5 years in Laytime or post fixture (Bulk operations).
