About Coffee<\/h2>\n

Each year the world produces approximately 10 million tons of coffee, the two main species of which are Arabica and Robusta.
\nMilder, more aromatic and with less caffeine, Arabica coffee makes up the bulk of world production. It is grown mainly at higher altitudes in tropical and temperate regions of the Western Hemisphere, Brazil being the world\u2019s largest producer.<\/p>\n

Vietnam is the largest producer of Robusta coffee, which is largely grown at lower altitudes in tropical Asia and Africa.<\/p>\n

Brazil is the world\u2019s leading producer of coffee overall, followed by Vietnam, Colombia and Indonesia. The EU (as a region) consumes the most coffee, followed by the US, Brazil and Japan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Our Strengths in Indonesia<\/h2>\n

We originate, process, merchandize and warehouse Indonesian Robusta coffee at our facilities in Lampung, serving customers ranging from specialty roasters to multinational food companies. We are also active in the Arabica market through partnerships with local processors.<\/p>\n

Our main coffee facility in Indonesia is Lampung Robusta Coffee Plant, located in Lampung, Southern Sumatra and equipped with processing and storage capabilities for Robusta coffee.<\/p>\n

At LDC, we are committed to producing sustainable coffee. To this end, we work with over 10,000 farmers across Southeast Asia, mainly in Indonesia and Vietnam, to share knowledge of sustainable agricultural practices and agroforestry, with training focused specifically on empowering women farmers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Indonesia is one of the world\u2019s largest coffee producing countries in the world. Our processing plants and facilities are located close to strategic points of origin, facilitating market access and efficient operations.<\/p>\n

LDC is a member of the\u00a04C Association<\/u><\/a>, sharing its vision to ‘unite all relevant coffee stakeholders in working toward the improvement of the economic, social and environmental conditions of coffee production and processing to build a thriving, sustainable sector for generations to come.’ All LDC green coffee meets the international standards of the 4C Association.<\/p>\n

We believe that reforestation through integrated landscape programs is an impactful way to support local coffee farmers. Our joint initiative with the Louis Dreyfus Foundation aims to preserve and regenerate the coffee ecosystem while improving the economic and social conditions of small-scale Indonesian coffee farmers in three different regions: Aceh, North Sumatra and Lampung.<\/p>\n

Working with the Foundation and with organization\u00a0Pur Projet<\/a>, LDC’s coffee agronomists in Indonesia help the 7,500 farmers participating in the program to become more self-sufficient. With each farmer supporting on average a family of four people, the program has the potential to improve the lives of some 30,000 beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n <\/div>\n \n \n
