{"id":3177,"date":"2021-02-25T09:29:32","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T08:29:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ldc.com\/sg\/stories-insights\/covantis-blockchain-platform-for-agri-commodities-trade-goes-live\/"},"modified":"2023-05-23T16:03:39","modified_gmt":"2023-05-23T14:03:39","slug":"covantis-blockchain-platform-for-agri-commodities-trade-goes-live","status":"publish","type":"stories-insight","link":"https:\/\/www.ldc.com\/sg\/en\/stories-insights\/covantis-blockchain-platform-for-agri-commodities-trade-goes-live\/","title":{"rendered":"Covantis Blockchain Platform for Agri-commodities Trade Goes Live"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>LDC\u2019s joint initiative with industry peers to modernize global agri-commodities trade operations, launches a transformational blockchain platform for global trade execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over two years of work come to fruition today with the achievement of a goal shared by six industry leaders: to modernize traditional agri-commodities trade execution operations by leveraging blockchain technology to connect shippers, traders and charterers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The journey has been exciting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ldc.com\/press-releases\/agribusinesses-seek-to-modernize-global-agricultural-commodity-trade-operations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">since 2018<\/a>, when LDC joined forces with co-founders <em>ADM<\/em>, <em>Bunge<\/em>, <em>Cargill<\/em>, <em>COFCO<\/em> and <em>Viterra<\/em> to kick off this initiative for the long-term benefit of the industry as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ldc.com\/press-releases\/covantis-launches-as-legal-entity-announces-ceo-and-executive-appointments\/\">setting up as <em>Covantis S.A.<\/em> in Switzerland<\/a>, and thanks to the combined industry and technical knowledge of the group of co-founders and several leading technology partners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.covantis.io\/press-release\/covantis-launches-transformational-blockchain-platform\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the initiative has launched today<\/a> an innovative, best-in-class technology platform to transform global agri-commodities trade operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"www.covantis.io\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ldc.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Covantis01-REV-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4133\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The platform\u2019s primary scope covers the export of bulk commodities such as corn and soybeans from Brazil to global destinations, with hundreds of users from over 30 entities around the world &#8211; including LDC &#8211; trained to use it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy digitizing agri-commodities trade execution processes from end to end, Covantis\u2019 platform will drive significant efficiency, security and transparency gains, and ultimately create business value for all transaction and value chain stakeholders,\u201d said <strong>Andr\u00e9 Roth, LDC\u2019s Head of Grains &amp; Oilseeds<\/strong>. \u201cThis is fully aligned with LDC\u2019s collaborative approach to driving positive change across the value chain, combining complementary expertise and cutting-edge technology for the long-term benefit of the industry as a whole.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the coming months, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.covantis.io\/\"><em>Covantis S.A.<\/em><\/a> will work to enlarge its network of participating companies and onboard the majority of industry players active in these product flows. Looking further ahead, the company will continue to invest in new capabilities that increase value for its clients from origin to destination, creating a global network for efficient execution of bulk
