Land Management

The world – and our business – depends on nature
and on resilient agricultural ecosystems to thrive.

Land is a limited resource that requires the restoration and the protection of natural ecosystems and watersheds. The loss of biodiversity, degradation of soil and increasing water scarcity pose increasing challenges for our business and the people who work across our supply chains.

Land Use Change

We believe that protecting natural ecosystems against deforestation and conversion is a priority to help shape more sustainable value chains.

Increasingly, we seek to harness innovative monitoring and traceability solutions to support responsible sourcing.

We also engage in, and proactively contribute to, a wide range of sectoral initiatives that seek to advance deforestation- and conversion-free agricultural production.

Regenerative Agriculture

We support farmers to adopt regenerative agriculture techniques that aim to improve soil health, promote biodiversity, restore aquifers and sequester carbon, with a goal to help mitigate climate change while supporting local farming systems.

In addition to supporting local initiatives and projects around the world, LDC formed a global Regenerative Agriculture team to advance the transition to regenerative agriculture in our key supply sheds.

Increasingly, we seek to scale-up action and implement landscape-level regenerative agriculture projects in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, to support the long-term resilience of global food and agricultural supply chains by championing sustainable farming practices where the food system begins: at the farm level.
