Primary Responsibilities & Essential Functions

Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) – Primary Focus

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all plant electrical, control, and instrumentation systems, including:
    • Level transmitters, switches, probes, temperature transmitters, and associated wiring
    • Hazard monitoring systems
    • 24 V DC control circuits and 4–20 mA analog loops
  • Diagnose and repair all electrical systems and components throughout the facility.
  • Maintain and service electrical systems such as:
    • Variable frequency drives (VFDs)
    • Electric motors and motor control centers (MCCs)
    • PLCs and related control hardware
    • Electrical power distribution equipment
    • Turbine electrical controls
  • Install electrical components including conduit, wiring, panels, controls, and machine‑mounted devices.
  • Install, maintain, and repair lighting systems and related equipment.
  • Perform pneumatic troubleshooting, including calculating ranges and set points for switches, transmitters, indicators, recorders, and controllers.
  • Apply electrical technical knowledge to support production uptime, quality, and equipment reliability.

Mechanical Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on mechanical systems and production equipment, including removal, installation, rebuilding, lubrication, and cleaning.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues; determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain tools, materials, and parts used for repairs and fabrication in the Maintenance Shop.
  • Diagnose and replace faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.

Operational & Safety Responsibilities

  • Partner with plant operations to complete all tasks in a safe, timely manner.
  • Immediately notify Maintenance Supervisors of any production, maintenance, or safety issues.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safety rules, environmental requirements, and GMP guidelines.
  • Make necessary minor adjustments during operation to ensure optimal production and product quality.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all equipment and attend training as required.
  • Apply root cause analysis and corrective action techniques to support continuous improvement.
  • Complete all required safety training and adhere to all safety policies, including strict adherence to LOTO procedures.
  • Complete work orders accurately, including time spent, parts used, and documentation in required systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance activities per manufacturer and engineering specifications.
  • Support capital improvement projects and maintenance projects as assigned.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Coordinate preventive maintenance (PM) activities with manufacturing, quality control, and management.
  • Assist and support other maintenance team members as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Participate in company programs (Safety Committee, audits, task forces, etc.) when required.
  • Assist with piping systems, fittings, and welding as needed.
  • Perform maintenance on all equipment owned, leased, or operated by LDC, including packaging machines, conveyors, palletizers, stretch wrappers, and sugar feed systems (screw conveyors, bucket elevators, drag conveyors, dense‑phase systems, airlocks, etc.).
  • Work during scheduled shutdowns to complete assigned work orders.
  • Use catwalks and/or ladders to clear conveyor choke‑ups as needed.
  • Work overtime as required.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by management.

 

     

    Qualifications

    Education / Certifications

    • High school diploma or GED required
    • Technical degree in industrial maintenance, electrical technology, instrumentation, or related field preferred
    • Valid driver’s license required

    Experience

    • 2–3 years of experience in industrial electrical work, instrumentation, preventive maintenance, and/or mechanical repair in an industrial processing or fleet maintenance environment
    • Related technical degree or certification may count for 1–3 years of experience
