We are seeking an experienced Internal Audit Manager to join our team in Melbourne. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the internal audit function in Australia, working closely with local management and collaborating with regional and global stakeholders. You will define and execute local audit strategies, ensure compliance with our global Internal Audit methodology, and provide valuable insights that drive business improvements. Reporting to the Head of Internal Audit, Asia, this role involves up to 40% travel within Australia and occasional international assignments.

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Act as the key liaison for the Internal Audit function with country management.
  • Partner with the Asia Head of Internal Audit to develop and implement the country audit strategy.
  • Manage co-sourced or guest auditors when required.
  • Identify and assess key risks and controls with Country Management, Platforms & Functions.
  • Contribute to a robust, risk-based audit plan.
  • Lead and participate in audits across trading desks, assets, fraud investigations, and special projects.
  • Perform walkthroughs and data-driven analysis of business processes and controls.
  • Recommend corrective actions and support management in remediation efforts while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Drive continuous audit and control initiatives.
  • Explore automation and data analytics opportunities to enhance audit efficiency.

Attributes and Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in English (written and verbal).
  • Advanced data analytical skills, with experience in data manipulation and interpretation.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Python, ACL (preferred), and data visualization platforms like Power BI.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and Australian legal/regulatory frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of compliance, internal control best practices, and commodity trading/supply chains.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • Strong business acumen, problem-solving mindset, and curiosity to learn.
  • Excellent organizational, documentation, and reporting abilities.
  • Effective communicator who builds trust and credibility.
  • Independent yet collaborative, with the ability to coach others when needed.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Accounting, or Finance
  • 5+ years of experience in a Big 4 firm (PwC, KPMG, EY, Deloitte) and/or in Internal Audit within an international commodity trading firm or related industries (FMCG, Energy, Mining, Hard Commodities).
  • International work/study experience highly regarded.
  • Professional certifications (CIA, CISA, CA, CPA, or equivalent) are an advantage.
