Main responsibilities:

Accountable for the flawless execution of Coffee platform in Ethiopia. Main tasks include:

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Daily visits to key 3rd party Warehouses to represent LDC Quality team and keep track of LDC coffee execution, quality and milling.
  • Take care of routine tasks related to green coffee purchase activities.
  • Gather and share Ethiopia market intel (crop flow, pricing, policy) with East Africa and global trading teams to inform positioning.
  • Represent LDC with industry bodies and key stakeholders; strengthen LDC’s brand and partnerships in origin

Quality

  • Withdraw Offered, PSS and Loading samples in the warehouse of LDC suppliers.
  • Assist LDC QC team in Quality Analysis (screening Moisture testing sorting roasting cupping).
  • Send on time Bag Marks and follow up the execution of it from shipper.
  • Collaborates with the LDC QC team in tracking timely evaluation and dispatch of samples. 
  • Assist LDC QC team in Quality Analysis (screening Moisture testing sorting roasting cupping). 
  • Communicate and update processing timeline + availability of pre shipment samples.

Execution

  • Give valuable feedback on stock and situation on site during weekly Execution calls.
  • Get the contract confirmations and registrations to any new contracts signed with suppliers
  • Collaborate with the LDC QC team in tracking timely evaluation and dispatch of samples.
  • Communicate and update processing timeline + availability of pre shipment samples.
  • Send regular stock reports, sample reports + loading reports.
  • Communicate status of approved lots with shippers.
  • Sending stuffing report + Shipment advises to overseas execution team.
  • Undertakes additional duties as deemed necessary. 
  • Provide support in daily activities connected to sourcing green coffee and management of exporters.  
  • Take care of routine tasks related to green coffee purchase activities. 
  • Responsible for the maintenance of an accurate and up-to-dated information on approved exporters and others in the approval pipeline. 
  • Communicates daily with Ethiopian exporters to collect offers and indicative prices. 
  • Collect the Coffee Authority’s weekly minimum price list and communicates internally. 
  • Sending purchase confirmation + support in contract creation. 
  • Collaborates with the LDC logistics team to ensure contract registration by exporters.  
  • Visit shippers’ warehouse to track LDC coffee execution. 
  • Send regular stock report, sample report + loading reports. 
  • Communicate status of approved lots with shippers. 
  • Sending stuffing report + Shipment advises to overseas execution team.  
  • Undertakes additional duties as deemed necessary. 

Sustainability & Responsible Sourcing

  • Support the local execution of LDC Sustainability initiatives; give valuable insights and monitor the supply chains
  • Identify and engage suitable partners in Ethiopia to advance the Coffee Platform’s strategic aims and LDC’s sustainability commitments. Oversee the projects with the supervision of the Country rep. according to Stronger Coffee initiatives and Responsible Sourcing standards, and maintain strong partner relationships to achieve and scale sustainability goals at origin.

Other:

Perfect communication is required with the rest of the team in Addis as well as LDC group globally.

Interactions/ interface:

She/he liaises with other functions and LDC offices (both inside and outside the region) in respect to operations and logistics.

She/he also develops and sustains productive relationships with external parties (surveyors, agents, banks, buyers, suppliers, etc.).

Education

Bachelor degrees (International Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Logistics or Business Administration or related area)

Experience

Three (3) years’ experience at least in a similar function, preferably with multinational experience.

Knowledge /Technical & Functional skills

  • Knowledge of international expectations in term of Marketing/IT tools, Procedures, and Reporting
  • Fluent spoken and written in English and Amharic
  • Is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment
