The Settlements Associate is an integral part of Yorkton’s Commercial team, responsible for ticket application and settlement of all inbound canola to Yorkton and offsite storage, as well as helping administer our Seed sales. Onsite customer service is a high priority, since these positions deal with managers and customers onsite.  This role is also backup to Reception and other Administrative support onsite.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Full-cycle ticket application and settlement, including but not limited to:
    • Physically retrieve the tickets from the onsite probe station(s), atleast 6x daily
    • Matching ticket to grading chip
    • Obtaining local leadership approval on grading and information
    • Fixing and voiding tickets which require corrections, then recirculating for approvals as required
    • Applying special instructions and payment terms from Buyers regarding customer requests, such as deferred or split payments or specific payment instructions
    • Printing cheques
    • Entering payments, processing credit card transactions, running inventory and sales reports, etc.
    • Creating new vendors and updating system as required
  • General administration as required, including but not limited to:
    • Backup for Reception front-desk, including answering phones and transferring calls to the appropriate people, as well as first point-of-contact for walk-in customers, visitors, delivery drivers, contractors, interviewees
    • Filing and all other duties as assigned
  • Continuous communication and information transmission within LDC databases, internal LDC team (Buyers, Commercial team, Graders, etc) and external LDC (customers, visitors, contractors, etc)

Education

  • High School Diploma
  • Formal training with Microsoft Excel or equivalency of 2 previous years work experience is required.
  • Business Administration certificate would be considered an asset but not required.

 

Experience

  • Must have atleast 2 years of previous work experience within the agricultural industry and/or customer-services position(s).
  • Must have previous work experience within an office environment, requiring extended time sitting at a desk, utilizing a computer and telephone.

 

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Exceptional customer service skills, including both face-to-face interactions as well as via telephone/email.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to decipher challenging written instruction / grading chips, understanding Buyer and producer information, answering phones, etc.
  • Proven attention to detail and data entry skills
  • Quick learner, with the ability to learn and understand canola pricing, how to create contracts, etc
  • Strong numerical skills
  • Proven time management and organizational skills, to ensure large work volume is completed with priority and independence.
  • Able to handle fast-paced environment with continuously changing deadlines and deliverables
  • Able to multi-task and handle various interruptions without sacrificing quality
  • Must be a professional, self-motivated individual, who is able to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity with information
  • Proven aptitude within the entire Microsoft Suite
  • Experience with Atlas, Cinch, and SAP BOLD would be considered an asset.
  • Must be able to work and adapt to our diverse working environments (indoors, outdoors, prevailing weather conditions, moderate to high noise level areas)
