Research Analyst / Agronomist is a position to analyze and record Palm Supply & Demand in Indonesia and Malaysia with the objective of achieving an accurate forecast.
- Build an accurate and comprehensive palm industry database for Indonesia and Malaysia which covers mill, refinery and biodiesel factory and CPKO.
- Managing databased related location, Group and capacity of the facility and Tank Capacity Utilize the data to display competitive landscape for Indonesia and Malaysia
- Regularly update Tree age model and analyze the impact to our production number
- Update and Use weather data and quantify the impact to our production number
- Collect monthly production from plantation that represent 4 main palm production region in Indonesia
- Those palm production number should cover at least 15% of production in each region
- Conduct at least quarterly crop tour in Indonesia and Malaysia
- Crop tour result should be able to read production trend direction within +- 100k deviation
- Spot month forecast deviation should not be more than 100k of Indonesia and 50k for Malaysia
- Spot Quarter production forecast should be less than 300 KMT for Indonesia and 150 KMT for Malaysia
- Annual production forecast deviation should be less than 1MMT for Indonesia and 500 KMT for Malaysia
- Communicate any risk on Indonesia production and able to quantify the upside or downside flag range to be expected
- Collecting public sites and public listed company production information as benchmark to Indonesia production number
- Make sure Indonesia - Malaysia line up is updated in a daily basis so that we can make adjustment to our spot month export forecast.
- Line up data should cover 100% of Indonesia and Malaysia port
- Perform regular line up reconciliation with destination team
- Timely lineup finalization at month end , ideally for Malaysia Export line up to be completed on the 1st working day of the following month & Indonesia
- Export line up to be completed on the 1st Working Week of the following month
- Regularly check other company or trade house number for Indonesia domestic consumption
- Keep record of biodiesel consumption in Indonesia using data shared by LDC Biodiesel team or data from external source
- Continuously updated database of Biodiesel and Refineries to be used to challenge consumption numbers
- Using external SnD to challenge our domestic consumption number Manage regular update on Thai palm SnD data and forecast
- Build acreage and weather model to support forecast for Thai palm production
Experience
Experience |
Knowledge and Experience:
- Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or related field.
- 3-5 years in research or agronomy, ideally within the palm oil industry. Experience with data management, forecasting, and analysis.
- Proficiency in data analysis and forecasting tools (e.g., Excel, Access).
- Strong understanding of palm oil production, supply, and demand dynamics in Indonesia and Malaysia.
- Ability to analyze weather impacts on production and challenge consumption numbers.
- Experience with crop tours, production trend analysis, and risk management.
- Ability to manage and update production, mill, and refinery data; ensure timely export line-up finalization.
- Proficiency in English.
