The execution department provides all back-office support to a privately held firm involved in the trading and merchandising of agricultural commodities both domestically and internationally.  The primary group function is the processing of biofuels purchase and sales settlements for the interior and export division using company systems.  This position requires heavy interaction with internal and external customers while complying with all company policies and government regulations. 

 

The Biofuels Associate position will support the different roles within the Biofuels team, including but not limited to the processing of invoices, production entries, and reconcilements.  Other support expectations for this position include assisting with the execution of freight trading.  This position will also review existing SOPs, and update/standardize when possible.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Process invoices daily for shipments of Biodiesel, Ethanol, Canola Oil, and other bioproducts shipped from multiple LDC facilities.
  • Enter daily manufacturing numbers into the front office system, as well as the creation of all the supporting documents.  Analyze the entries to ensure accuracy, consistency, and work with the locations to understand in anomalies.
  • Support the execution of rail freight contracts.  This includes working with the Rail Freight MA to ensure all proper documentation has been obtained and verified.  Entering proper receivables/payables, with exact coding, in the existing system.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze existing documented procedures and update them and standardize them when possible.
  • Act as backup for team members when they are out of the office.
  • Other job duties that may be assigned.

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

The following is the basic qualification: 

  • Associates degree in business administration or a related discipline
  • Valid Driver’s License

The following is the preferred qualification: 

  • Bachelors degree in business, international business or a related discipline

Experience

The following is the basic qualification: 

  • Two years of clerical accounting experience. 

The following is the preferred qualification: 

  • Agricultural industry experience.   

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

The following are all required:

  • Basic knowledge of general accounting principles.
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    • Strong documentation skills.
    • Ability to work independently and propose solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict daily deadlines.
    • Detail-oriented.

    No supervisory responsibilities.

    Decision Making/Accountability

          Applies knowledge learned on the job to perform settlements and handle customer service issues.  Provides any other

          assistance as directed by supervisor; prioritizes personal workload throughout the day to ensure meeting of deadlines.  

          Consults with supervisor regarding complex issues.
