Overall Purpose and Objective of Position: The Packaging Operator is responsible for filling totes / drums with various liquids, and responsible for complying with all applicable company standards and government regulations.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Comply with company and food safety policies
- Receive/unload packaging supplies with a forklift and regularly unload drums manually without a forklift
- Fill or empty glycerin, canola, and lecithin tanks using computerized controls and following standard operating procedures
- Create accurate labels, print labels, and label drums, totes, and samples
- Print accurate shipping paperwork and ensure that it is sent with the correct packages
- Fill containers with glycerin, canola, lecithin, or other (sometimes mixing additives), using computerized controls and scales
- Use a forklift to move containers and load trucks with the correct packaged material and accurate shipping paperwork
- Conduct inventory audits of packaged products & materials; notify the packaging supervisor of low quantities
- Inspect packaging equipment and report any issues
- Respond to equipment issues or alarms; investigate and initiate resolutions
- Accurately complete all required operational and food safety documentation
Additional Responsibilities:
- New products or product containers might be added to our product line for packaging at any time
- Ensure work area is kept clean and free of safety hazards
- Complete all required training tasks as assigned in EHS or by the Packaging Supervisor
- Attend and participate in safety and general meetings when scheduled or requested
Experience
Experience |
- High school diploma/GED
- Valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures
- Ability to operate machinery and computer control systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory safety requirements, e.g., OSHA (including PSM), EPA, USDA, and ISO 9000
- Ability to drive a forklift, climb stairs and ladders as well as work at heights; manage confined space entry, withstand extended periods of walking and standing; move manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 pounds or more which requires regular bending and lifting
- Mechanical aptitude, effective communication skills, basic math and fundamental PC skills
- Experience in receiving/shipping and knowledge of LDC liquid process controls preferred
