We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Trade Operations Controller to join our Australian Cotton Platform. In this role, you will be responsible for producing accurate and timely Daily P&L, Position, and FX monitoring reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards. You will provide valuable insights to support trading and business decisions, lead month-end closing processes, and contribute to planning, budgeting, and process improvement activities in collaboration with regional and global teams.

Key responsibilities will be but not limited to:

  • Preparing, monitoring, and analysing Daily P&L and Position reports for the Australian Cotton Platform, with clear commentary on performance drivers and variances.
  • Ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reports (positions, prices, costs, broker statement reconciliations) in compliance with IFRS and company policies.
  • Monitoring and reporting foreign exchange exposures, identifying unhedged positions, and ensuring compliance with Group Policy.
  • Producing monthly Flash P&L reports and supporting the accounting team to ensure accurate and timely month-end closing.
  • Supporting budgeting and reforecasting activities, including margin, secondary costs, and G&A analysis.
  • Preparing monthly and rolling 12-month cash flow forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities in working capital usage.
  • Assisting in external audits and maintaining documented financial procedures aligned with company and regulatory standards.
  • Supporting continuous improvement projects and system enhancements, including trading and accounting systems (ATLAS).
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Trading, Execution, Accounting, Treasury, and Credit Risk teams, as well as external auditors and Shared Services Centres.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a finance role, ideally within agribusiness, commodities, or trading.
  • Strong understanding of profit and loss accounting and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP or trading systems highly regarded.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and regions.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Highly regarded:

  • Experience within agricultural or commodity trading industries.
  • Understanding of derivative products (futures, forwards, and options).
  • Knowledge of treasury or funding functions.
  • CA/CPA qualification (desired but not essential).
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
