Research Analyst / Agronomist is a position to analyze and record Palm Supply & Demand in Indonesia and Malaysia with the objective of achieving an accurate forecast.

  • Key member of the team responsible for driving the palm oil supply and demand projections across the major origin countries
  • Conduct crop surveys across origins on a regular basis to inform production forecasts
  • Form data and evidence-driven view of production and be able to clearly and competently convey this view to stakeholders, including Head of Research and trading team
  • Build and maintain a wide network of industry contacts. Be proactive in gathering information
  • Maintain production forecasts for short term (next 18 months) and long-term (10+ years)
  • Build knowledge of palm oil industry, update and maintain databases of relevant data including mill, refining, downstream capacities
  • Familiarization with the key players and supply chains in the palm industry
  • Assist in and independently update origin shipment line ups
  • Other tasks as required to calibrate our supply and demand estimates as needed
  • Support commercial team from time to time on an as-needs basis

 Knowledge and Experience:

  • Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, or related field.
  • 3-5 years in research or agronomy, ideally within the palm oil industry. Experience with data management, forecasting, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and forecasting tools (e.g., Excel, Access).
  • Strong understanding of palm oil production, supply, and demand dynamics in Indonesia and Malaysia.
  • Ability to analyze weather impacts on production and challenge consumption numbers.
  • Experience with crop tours, production trend analysis, and risk management.
  • Ability to manage and update production, mill, and refinery data; ensure timely export line-up finalization.
  • Proficiency in English.

Job Description
