We are currently hiring for a Power Engineering Intern for Summer 2024 to assist and observe the operation of the utilities department, as well as monitor water quality for the waste water treatment plant and cooling towers.

  • Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer, this position is responsible for assistance in monitoring and operation of plant boilers including all ancillary equipment.   Includes but is not limited to:
    • Collecting and sending water samples
    • Assisting in troubleshooting during process upsets
    • Assisting with monitoring and data collection responsibilities
    • Performing minor piping
    • Cleaning and upkeep of the department
    • Assisting other departments in troubleshooting and upkeep
  • Continuously ensuring that support is given in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with government regulations and Company standards.

 

  • The ideal candidate will possess a full 4th Class Power Engineering Ticket (must have atleast one of two 4th Class exams successfully passed and completed prior to starting with LDC)
  • Excellent written, documentation and verbal communications skills, as well as a willingness to work a rotating shift schedule are required.  
  • Work in an organized, safe, and clean manner, ensuring work area is kept clean and free from all safety hazards
  • Ensures compliance with Company safety rules and wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) as required in fulfillment of assigned responsibilities 
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders as well as work at heights; manage confined space entry, withstand extended periods of walking and standing; move manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 pounds or more which requires regular bending and lifting
  • Mechanical aptitude, effective oral and written communication skills, basic math and fundamental PC skills
  • Must be well organized, self-motivated and action oriented and able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Regular exposure to a variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions; regular exposure to gases, vapors, dust, odors and flammable liquids; occasional exposure to areas with wet floors and high volume of noise. Heavy lifting of materials and products may be required.
  • Regular stair climbing and extended periods of walking and standing in order to access and occasionally work in remote areas of the plant, heights and confined spaces.
  • Personal Protective Equipment will be worn in compliance with Company standards and government regulations.
