The SHE Specialist reports directly to the SHE Manager of Wittenberg.
Responsible for reviewing, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of safety, health and environmental (SHE) measures at the site.
Ensuring that all measures relating to the site and individual elements of the LDC SHE program are implemented in accordance with local legal requirements, federal state regulations, national regulations and all rules, laws and regulations relating to occupational health and safety.
The position requires internal contacts mainly with: SHE regional and global teams, Production, Logistics, Quality, Human Resources, Engineering, Procurement, Maintenance, Finance
External contacts include: Authorities, contractors, suppliers, insurance companies, among others.
- Develop and analyze statistics related to incidents and accidents, and report on leading and lagging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare periodic reports on Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) activities and outcomes.
- Ensure the accident and incident investigation process, in collaboration with the responsible personnel, guarantees compliance with the corrective and preventive actions identified during the investigation.
- Support the management team in implementing and adhering to the SHE management system and the Process Safety Program (PSP).
- Assist in the application of regional and global SHE policies and procedures.
- Provide technical support to various departments to achieve established SHE objectives and goals.
- Check and track the timely completion of actions documented in SHE Digital and the accident logbook.
- Maintain and update the delegation matrix.
- Serve as the deputy for the SHE Manager.
- Ensure the updating of operating procedures (SOPs) that complement general procedures, including all safe work procedures and controls for critical tasks and environmental aspects.
- Actively review and implement measures specified in work permits, especially those related to High-Risk Activities (HRA).
- Manage personal protective equipment (PPE), including its selection, approval, delivery, and registration.
- Responsible for establishing and updating employee profiles and training courses in the ‘Prevenio’ portal.
- Support the development of an adequate emergency and contingency plan for the facility, ensuring it is regularly tested for effectiveness.
- Assist in conducting inspections and audits.
- Verify training and competency levels required to manage and maintain equipment and facilities, and perform testing to appropriate standards and procedures.
- Interact and influence with Operations, Maintenance and Safety, Training and Engineering personnel to ensure hazards are identified, risks are properly managed and ensure compliance with PSP chapters and standards.
- Ensure all process changes are controlled through Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) procedures
- Stay current with local, national, and international health and safety regulations and best practices.
Experience
| Experience |
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Successfully completed studies or a master craftsman/technician qualification with several years of professional experience or a graduate of a relevant safety-related degree program with relevant internships and successful graduation

- Required experience: 2 to 5 years working in industrial sites with chemical risk, dust management in cereals, gas and oil or other equivalent risk.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving and decision making skills.
- Knowledge of planning, general design activities, project engineering, operations and maintenance.
- Experience with safety management systems.
- Proficient in office package
- Fluent in German and English. Other languages will be considered an asset.
