Overall Purpose and Objective of Position
Supervise the monthly financial statement close process, including review of financial statements and journal entries in a timely manner. Assist Accounting Managers in overseeing the preparation of the monthly financial reports transmitted to the regional headquarters.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Manage the overall monthly financial reporting process for Cotton related activities in North America.
- Supervise and perform analysis and variance explanation for the Company’s operating results and key performance indicators.
- Research and document accounting issues as they arise to ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards and coordinate with the Director of Accounting the findings.
- Ensure that all financial reporting packages are submitted timely with the appropriate level of review.
- Supervise and review the work of the financial reporting staff.
- Encourage staff development through periodic performance reviews as well as informal feedback.
- Develop detailed understanding and working knowledge of the Louis Dreyfus Financial Reporting tool (Magnitude) and ensure compliance with Louis Dreyfus reporting standards. Coordinate and implement regional and corporate policies relating to financial reporting and compliance.
- Manage and reconcile intercompany transactions monthly.
- Prepare annual budget for Merchandising entity.
- Prepare month over month and year over year budget vs actual analysis.
- Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations and review of reportee’s reconciliations monthly.
- Prepare monthly journal entries as well as review team’s journal entries.
- Perform all required responsibilities.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field. An advanced degree and /or CPA designation is preferred.
Experience
Must have 2 - 4 years of financial reporting experience with prior experience in a similar position.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)
- Must have strong quantitative and analytical skills.
- Must have strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees as well as outside parties.
- Self-directed with a high sense of urgency and strong bias for action in a highly dynamic and demanding work environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, prioritize workloads and perform multiple tasks that might have conflicting priorities.
- Personal honesty, competence and integrity in functional leadership in accounting processes, tools and techniques.
- Must demonstrate leadership qualities including initiative, promoting teamwork and maintaining a mature and positive attitude.
- Must have prior experience in documenting, developing, or analyzing financial reporting processes and procedures.
- Broad range of computer skills including functional knowledge of Microsoft programs, especially MS Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint, and intermediate knowledge and experience with Excel.
- SAP software experience preferred.
Decision Making/Accountability
- Accountable for assigned areas of the financial package.
- Expected to complete tasks in a timely manner to meet deadlines and keep management apprised of progress.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information of the company.
- Good reasoning skills to determine if financial data and journal entries appear reasonable.
- Performs self-check of completed tasks before submitting to management for review.
- Will be accumulating extremely confidential information and will be preparing reports to be used by global executives.
- Will be accountable for the accuracy of the information prepared. Also, must maintain strict control over the information received.
