The Solution Specialist's role is to deliver support to internal users operating the company’s most complex business applications and processes, often completing in-depth troubleshooting autonomously and utilizing personal expertise and discretion to resolve business challenges.  This is a regional position.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Responsible as a Level II/III support for application issues and associated business problems, including problems reported directly by business partners and issues escalated from Level I Service Desk team. Includes serving as the primary liaison to business users involved with the issue at hand.
  • Responsible to independently manage the lifecycle of all business and technical challenges raised, including providing updates and managing time-efficient collaborative troubleshooting with business users over time when issues cannot be resolved quickly.
  • Develop and maintain deep working knowledge of application technical elements and business processes for the company’s most complex systems, including Front End trading systems, Back End ERP and accounting systems, Industry scale and automation systems, as well as risk, procurement, inventory, and maintenance systems.
  • Responsible to collaborate with business partners beyond the core technical or process issue to investigate and resolve any downstream business impacts, including data correction, technical upgrades, and process improvements.
  • Documents user issues and works with other IT members and business partners to grow the knowledge base of technical and business process information and document best practices, procedures, and controls for use in future troubleshooting and issue management.
  • Takes a leadership role in managing on-going business application maintenance and upgrades, including independent development and execution of test cases and scripts in partnership with business users
  • Responsible for supporting and when needed leading in the design, delivery, and improvement of in-house software applications.
  • When needed, leverage personal technical and business process expertise to provide direct support to Build projects, providing analyst capabilities supporting business requirements and process improvement.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, providing after-hours support to production facilities, experiencing operational impacts, engaging other team members, as needed.
  • Occasional work away from the Kansas City office and travel may be required, subject to requirements and management guidance.

    Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

    Basic qualifications:

    • High school diploma

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Bachelors’ or Masters degree (preferably in business or computer science)

    Experience

    Basic qualifications:

    • 2 years of experience with functional and technical aspects of major enterprise business systems and related technologies.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Strong technical or operational experience in financial, business operations, or trading systems.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

    Basic qualifications:

    • Working experience with standard business tools such as MS Windows Operating System and Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
    • Knowledge or experience in functional business areas, such as finance, accounting, information technology and trading operations
    • Demonstrated ability to act in a support role to understand functional issues, related information technology needs and to work with Project Managers/Business Analysts to create solutions
    • Ability to effectively manage multiple assignments and priorities
    • Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other business organizations; successful experience in working with diverse groups of people in a problem-solving environment
    • History of applying varied approaches to solve complex business support challenges of significance to the organization
    • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
