The incumbent will be responsible for primarily delivering the IVC origination, imports and export strategy in the West Africa region, engaging closely with customers, internal commercial and research teams, to drive LDC’s markets shares and insights in the region.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Perform physical trade operations with a focus on origination of palm oil products (CPO, CPKO) and identifying and optimizing trade opportunities based on import and export parity in West Africa.
• Assist senior traders with bulk CIF Business flows into multiple West African countries and sales of packed products from downstream business.
• Liaise with the sustainability team to ensure suppliers provide relative traceability info and comply with LDC’s Global sustainability policy.
• Ensure trade to cash process is implemented (validation of contracts, exchanges of futures, FX hedge for sales, collection of funds, collection of cargo in case of prepayment).
• Follow execution of the program and assist in solving daily issues (interface with execution, freight team, STF and destination teams).
• Conduct market analysis under Senior Trader’s guidance, in coordination with the research team, develop and operate intelligence/trading tools (Price arb/competitiveness analysis, price analyses…).
• Support prices analysis and S&D modeling, send out key market information, analysis, and updates to the platform (import and export line-ups for key origins, ad-hoc analyses, and reports).
• Participate, under Senior Trader’s supervision, in all the in-house and external commercial interactions.
• Identifying trends and market developments, ensuring the exchange of information and the production of market and other reports.
Knowledge and Experience:
Experience:
• 1 to 3 years of experience in a commercial/trading position, ideally in the Agricultural sector.
Knowledge:
• Ability to manage a certain level of complexity with sound problem-solving skills.
• Analytical mindset, at ease with numbers and proven negotiation skills.
• Possesses a certain layer of finesse and tact to represent the Company in front of customers.
• Good interpersonal skills, ability to work in a multi-cultural and cross-functional team.
• Flexibility, ability to cope with fast-paced changes within a growing company.
Experience

Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering, agronomy, economics, or a related field.
Languages:
• French (fluent in both oral and written).
• English (fluent in both oral and written).
• Any other language is advantageous.
Systems:
• Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of Power BI and CRM is ideal. • Programming skills (R, Python…) are advantageous.
