The Europe Grains & Feed Analyst is responsible for forecasting acreage/yield/production for all the EU Member States, modeling domestic consumption (human, industrial and feed demand) and monitoring trade flows.

You will manage the EU grains balance sheets, which includes updating the centralized database, effectively communicating updates to the trading team (calls, Teams, emails) and coming up with conclusions on future price direction. You will also be responsible for meat supply & demand analysis in the EU, liaising with our distribution offices and updating the trading team on a very regular basis.

You will report to the Global Wheat Lead Analyst and Regional Head of G&O Research for EMEA.
 

Your missions:

  • Conduct analysis of EU supply & demand of grains
  • Forecast EU grains production volumes
  • Participate in crop tours
  • Develop a deep knowledge of the EU meat market, including meat production & consumption, prices & margins and the impact on feed grains & meals demand. Conduct price sensitivity analysis to forecast switches between the different feedgrains and meals
  • Work with analysts and traders in other relevant countries
  • Communicate results of analysis to Geneva traders and global group
  • Provide the group early warnings on sudden S&D changes
  • Work with traders to develop trading strategy, highlight opportunities and risks
  • Coordinate with origination and commercial desks to include feedback into S&D analysis
  • Monitor line-ups & customs and update the group (EU & global)
  • Participate in business development projects in the region (assist with research, analysis and presentations)
  • Build a good network with local external market players/analysts, including grains producers and CPF producers

Your profile:

  • Bachelor/Master Degree in Economics or Agricultural engineering (or both)
  • 2/3 years of relevant experience in a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of the grains markets
  • Strong market trends analysis skills
  • Strong communication skills (verbal / written)
  • Good Excel skills & coding skills (Python, R…)
  • PowerBI knowledge is a plus
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines
  • Willingness to travel when required (e.g. for crop tours)
  • English (fluent), any other languages is a plus
