Join our dynamic international logistics team, based in the Port of Ghent, and work closely with colleagues in the Netherlands, Brazil, China and USA. As a Logistics Analyst, you’ll play a pivotal role in optimizing the end-to-end flow of goods from import and transfers to storage and inventory management. This position requires a proactive coordinator who thrives in a fast-paced environment, ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance across the supply chain.
Key Responsibilities
Import Operations
- Orchestrate inbound container logistics to ensure timely deliveries.
- Prepare documentation, create work orders, manage batch relations, and handle bookings.
- Oversee customs clearance processes in line with regulatory guidelines.
- Manage reporting requirements for local authorities.
- Monitor and report on demurrage, storage, plug-in, and waiting time costs.
- Follow up on product sampling and maintain accurate records.
- Present weekly and monthly operational updates in internal and external meetings.
Transfers & Transportation
- Lead freight negotiations, manage bids, assign transport, and support slot bookings.
- Align with cold storage facilities, carriers, and internal teams to ensure seamless transitions.
- Provide precise customs instructions for goods in transit.
- Track and report freight costs, ensuring budget compliance and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Share operational performance insights through regular reporting.
Storage Management
- Monitor stock levels to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies.
- Supervise third-party logistics (3PL) providers to ensure service quality and compliance.
- Deliver consistent reporting on storage operations
- Reports weekly and monthly operation status/results in internal and external meetings.
Inventory & Stock Control
- Promote and enforce best practices in stock keeping.
- Support waste management, rework, and blocked stock resolution.
- Oversee release, dumping, and filling processes.
- Organize and participate in stock counts to enhance inventory accuracy.
- Report and act on opportunities or to mitigate risks.
Experience
| Experience |
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in logistics operations; customs knowledge is a plus
- Fluent in English and Dutch (B2)
- Advanced proficiency in ERP & Excel; Power BI preferred, SAP experience is a bonus
- Strong analytical and organizational capabilities
- Proven experience working with KPIs
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
