About Us
LDC is a global merchant and processor of agricultural goods. Guided by our strong values and building on our rich heritage, we work to realize our vision for a safe and sustainable future, contributing to the global effort to provide sustenance for a growing population.
Our Vision
Driven by our purpose to create fair and sustainable value, we are transforming to embrace more of the agricultural value chain. To do so, we are working with both suppliers and customers to ensure the sustainable and traceable product journey, from farm to fork, that customers, consumers and our planet expect from us.
Sustainability
We recognize that our activities at all stages of the value chain have an impact on the environment, and touch the people who work for us or live near our facilities. LDC takes its responsibility for managing that impact very seriously, and sustainability is therefore central to our business model and a daily consideration for our teams, who strive to create fair and sustainable value in everything we do, and wherever we operate.
As part of this approach, LDC works to support local communities connected with our activities – for example, through our 2-year project to provide Biogas systems to vulnerable farming communities in Kenya and Rwanda, replacing the need for traditional wood and charcoal burning stoves, reducing health risks and boosting incomes by eliminating the need to source wood and charcoal.
More recently, we invested in a revolutionary speciality dry mill in Nairobi, allowing farmers to process their coffee in a mill with accredited hermetic packaging options for quality preservation, enabling producers to benefit from higher margins and respond to traceability expectations from international buyers.
For several years, we have also supported a local school in Shariani that welcomes more than 100 children. LDC volunteers visit the school regularly, deliver breakfast supplies to ensure students eat a nutritious meal every morning, and support with restoring school facilities such the lighting system, gate, washrooms and others.
As part of a scholarship program run by the Louis Dreyfus Foundation, we also support students pursuing agricultural studies at African universities such as the University of Pretoria (South Africa) and Egerton University (Kenya).

Our Heritage
For more than 170 years, we have sourced agricultural products where they are grown, and transported and transformed them for customers and consumers around the world, working with a wide range of trusted partners – from smallholder farmers to global organizations.
We have been operating in the country for over half a century, and opened our first office in Mombasa in 1999. Since then, we have expanded our local business presence steadily over the years.
