Business Lines
LDC operates ten business lines around the world, of which one is active in Belgium: Juice
Global Highlights
As one of the largest orange and lemon growers and juice suppliers in the world, sustainability is the cornerstone of our business model.
About Juice
Our juice business offers orange, lime, lemon, and apple juices, as well as natural citrus flavors and fragrance ingredients, dry peel for the pectin industry, and animal feed.
When we process citrus fruits, nothing is wasted. Juice is extracted, peel is dried, oils are recovered and all remaining pulp is transformed into fiber-rich citrus-pulp pellets used as an animal feed ingredient.
Oil essences and aromas are primarily used by the flavor and fragrance industries, while dry peel from ripe oranges, lemons and limes is used to extract pectin, which is sold to the food industry as a gelling agent, thickening agent and stabilizer.
Brazil is by far the largest orange juice producer in the world, responsible for 70% of global production.
Our Juice Value Chain
Our business lines are integrating further across the five steps of our value chain, as we respond to the need for a traceable and responsible supply line from farmer to consumer.

Our Strengths in Juice
We are involved in the entire citrus processing value chain, from farming to distribution of packaged juices. In addition to merchandizing and risk management expertise, our success in this global business is supported by extensive physical assets, sustainable operations and traceable supply chains.
Our assets include 25,000+ hectares of citrus groves with 14 million+ trees, across 36 farms managed by LDC in Brazil, as well as three state-of-the-art processing facilities in Brazil and two distribution terminals in Brazil and Belgium.
Our citrus port terminals in Santos, Brazil and Ghent, Belgium are capable of handling both Frozen Concentrate Orange Juice (FCOJ) and Not-From-Concentrate Orange Juice (NFCOJ) in bulk and drums.
We have also invested heavily in transportation and energy. In collaboration with bound4blue and Wisby Tankers AB, we installed the world’s largest suction sails – four 26-metre-high eSAILs® – aboard MV Atlantic Orchard, an LDC-chartered juice transportation vessel. In 2025, we also launched a biogas production plant in Bebedouro, São Paulo State – the first of its kind and scale in Brazil, and the largest in the world – capable of producing green energy from the treatment of citrus effluent.
Investing in Research & Diversifying Downstream
We continue to explore opportunities to innovate and diversify our portfolio with even more sustainable, high quality, value-added products, including further downstream in the value chain, closer to end-consumers.
We launched our first owned consumer-facing juice brand, Montebelo Brasil, in various European and Asian countries, distributing to end customers in partnership with local retailers. We also expanded our natural citrus ingredients portfolio with folded oils and fractions for the flavor and fragrance market.
Committed to Sustainable Juice
As a fundamental element of our juice production strategy, we have built sustainable solutions into our operations across the juice value chain.
