Erin

NAM Grains & Oilseeds Ingredients Manager
Wilton, US
“Any individual can have a new business idea in the company and be heard”

2008 was a landmark year for Erin Maxwell. It was the year she and sailing partner Isabelle Kinsolving Farrar won the 470 class Women's World Championship in Melbourne, Australia.

And it was also the year Erin joined LDC.

Erin is as driven as you might expect any Olympic athlete to be, and in 2011 she went on to win the World Cup in the same sailing class, despite holding down a busy job at LDC on the Risk Management desk.

In 2012, she joined the Oilseeds desk, helping to sell biodiesel and crude glycerin for the Claypool plant and do some bean oil trading. She was part of the decision-making process to build a new glycerin-refining facility at Claypool, and now oversees the sales and marketing of products from this plant.

She combines this senior role with bringing up five young children. Her full life means that Erin is far too busy to waste time, and the efficiency of communication she finds with LDCs’ flat management structure holds great appeal for her:

“Titles and seniority in the company are less important than I have seen in other companies. Any level of person can feel free to talk to managers of businesses within the company and not feel they are too senior to have time to be an audience.”
