Delivering for Customers

Despite the disruptive effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, we found solutions to avoid supply chain interruptions and successfully delivered on all customer contracts.

New Eco-Efficient Fleet

We invested close to US$40 million in two state-of-the-art, eco-efficient vessels, increasing annual static shipping capacity by around 20%, reducing fuel consumption by 40% and cutting sulfur emissions by more than 85% per ton of product transported.

Acting for the Environment

Following a study to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, our citrus farms implemented operational enhancements that drove a 5% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions, compared to 2018.

Focus on sustainability continued to be of the utmost importance. Our new fleet’s design was motivated by our drive to reduce emissions per ton transported, contributing to LDC’s global commitment to decrease the environmental impact of its activities.

More Juice Highlights

We diversified revenue streams by developing processes to extract value-added products from citrus peel, including gelling and stabilizing agents such as pectin, natural green and clean label fibers.

We worked with partners to develop innovative methods for natural sugar reduction in juice products, responding to consumer demand for lower sugar content in beverages.

We maintained Rainforest Alliance CertifiedTM status for 32 of our 38 citrus farms in Brazil, and increased the number of farms verified as Gold Grade by the Sustainable Agriculture Initiative (SAI) Platform to 35 (up from 32 in 2019).
