Grains Strengths in Argentina
In Argentina, LDC specializes in selling exportable surpluses of wheat, corn, sorghum and barley to the world, via our extensive international network of offices, distribution centres, transportation and storage facilities. Our origination activities in the country are closely integrated with other agricultural inputs such as seeds, fertilizers and crop protection.
Our large asset network allows us to offer logistics solutions to Argentine agricultural producers and maximize efficiency throughout the entire production chain. We own the ports of General Lagos and Timbúes in Santa Fe province and Bahia Blanca in Buenos Aires province, and have a network of storage warehouses and sales offices in more than 22 locations throughout the country.
Oilseeds Strengths in Argentina
LDC is one of the country’s largest exporters of soybeans, soybean meal and oil, and soy-based biodiesel.
We purchase soybeans directly from the farmers and from an extensive network of intermediaries in the market, which includes interior elevators, cooperatives and brokers. The beans we purchase are delivered to ports for export or to crushing facilities to be processed and transformed into soybean meal and oils.
Our assets include interior logistics, warehouses, crushing plants, biodiesel and lecithin plants and ports. We have invested in two large processing plants with a combined crushing capacity of approximately 19,000 tons per day, both located near Rosario, Santa Fe province, and both including port terminals.
To extend our presence in the value chain, we have also invested in two biodiesel plants and one lecithin line, and now also produce glycerin as part of the biodiesel production process.
Fertilizers and Inputs
LDC started the fertilizers and inputs business in Argentina in 2007. Present in key destinations throughout Argentina’s main crop growing areas, we offer a wide variety of fertilizers and inputs for Argentine producers. We distribute nitrogen, phosphate and potassium fertilizers, as well as crop protection products.
Our operations are supported by an extensive network of warehouses, country elevators, qualified teams of account managers and an independent network of agents who have a deep knowledge of the local and global market.
Seeds
Our Seeds business first started operating in the country in 2009. Thanks to quality genetics, and a presence throughout Argentina’s agricultural areas, we are rapidly becoming one of the market’s largest players.
We market a range of seed products under the brand Macro Seed, each variety of which has particular strengths, ranging from high yield potential to resilience during climate fluctuation.
Macro Seed varieties are the result of years of research and development, aiming to increase crop productivity while promoting the sustainable use of natural resources.
Committed to Sustainability
In addition to our strong merchandizing capabilities, growing product portfolio and reputation for reliability and integrity, our leading position in grains and oilseeds is also connected with our commitment to responsible sourcing, traceable supply chains and sustainable business practices globally.
Increasing traceability in our soy operations is central to our sustainability efforts, to encourage responsible land use and non-conversion of native vegetation for soy cultivation.
