Transforming and facilitating the way farmers manage data related to regenerative agriculture practices: that’s the digitalization journey that two industry leaders with a shared vision, Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) and John Deere, are embarking on together.
We delved into this exciting collaboration, exploring how it aims to simplify the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices today while cultivating a resilient tomorrow.
Who does this help and how?
Well, streamlining data management among a large population of farmers ultimately lifts a major burden off their shoulders: the often tedious and time-consuming manual data collection process. What’s more, simplifying data management not only saves time but also empowers farmers to make informed agronomic and economic decisions that benefit both their farms and their ecosystem.
A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future
“John Deere and LDC have a shared vision for advancing both financial and environmental sustainability through digital capabilities that support farmers with additional resources to make the best decisions for their operations, while contributing to a more sustainable global food, fuel, and fiber system,” said Jan Christoph Kabath, LDC’s Head of Sustainability & Energy Transition.
Chris Winkler, Director of Digital Software & Solutions at John Deere, added: “LDC’s commitment to farmer centricity reflects our own commitment to ensuring farmers who voluntarily adopt regenerative practices are rewarded for their efforts. By equipping farmers with the latest equipment, technology, and data solutions they need to succeed, and together with partners like LDC, we can empower farmers to unlock new value improving their financial outcomes and the sustainability of their operations.”
Beyond Data Management
John Deere Operations Center provides farmers with real-time insights and tools to manage their farm operations and equipment. Beyond efficient data management, John Deere Operations Center helps farmers:
- Benefit from real-time insights into their farm operations, including metrics supporting regenerative agriculture practices and related decisions.
- Document practice implementation to support participation in incentive programs that reward low-carbon feedstock production, such as the US 45Z tax credit.
LDC, in turn, will deliver regeneratively grown commodities together with enhanced data traceability and verification across supply chains to downstream customers.

Moving Forward
The initiative will initially focus on three key commodities in the US – soy, corn and cotton, and aims to enroll 200 farmers managing a combined 100,000 acres by April 2025.
Beyond this pilot phase, the goal is to scale the program globally and include all row crops, as a significant enabler of broader adoption of regenerative agriculture over the long term.
As we embark on this journey with John Deere, integrating advanced data management technologies with regenerative agriculture practices, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting more sustainable agricultural production, leveraging digital solutions and fostering collaboration across the sector.
Stay tuned as we continue our journey to help shape a fair and sustainable future of food and agriculture, through solutions that benefit both people and nature.
