Originating sugar mainly from Brazil, Thailand and Central America, we are among the largest sugar refiners and distributors in the US, where we have consolidated our position through the acquisition in 2012 of Imperial Sugar Company (ISC), a leading US sugar refiner, and its brands.
Imperial Sugar Company
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of LDC, ISC manufactures and markets pure cane sugar and specialty sweeteners, and carries out sucrose-based research and new product development.
Producing only the finest quality sugar and specialty sweeteners for consumers, retailers, food service distributors, food manufacturers, private label customers, culinary professionals and specialty markets, ISC offers a variety of formats, packaging, price points and customization options to meet customer needs, including non-GMO, OU Kosher Certified, Halal Certified and gluten-free products.
From off-the-shelf solutions to custom formulations, we help our customers to simplify the manufacturing process, enhance products and improve profitability and productivity.

We support Bonsucro’s efforts to increase the adoption of its standards and practices for the responsible production of sugar.
All relevant LDC facilities and trading entities are Bonsucro-certified and, since we do not grow sugar ourselves, we take steps to promote the organization to our suppliers and to merchandize Bonsucro-certified sugar wherever possible.
In 2019, we were able to supply customers in the US with Bonsucro-certified sugar. In the same year, we introduced a new water-saving decolorization process at our Imperial Sugar refinery in Port Wentworth, GA.
