Overall Purpose and Objective of Position
This position supervises the activities of the Cash Management Staff that perform a variety of transactional accounting functions, including cash application, payment processing, daily funding calculation, daily bank reconcilement, monthly reconcilements, and various other data collection projects for a regional office of a privately held firm involved primarily in the international merchandising and manufacturing of agricultural commodities and biofuels.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Supervises the daily activities of the Cash Management Staff, delegates work amongst the group.
- Oversees the processing of all facility and commercial payments, ensuring daily payment batches are uploaded through the online banking system and ensures proper payment support is sent to counterparties
- Oversees daily bank reconcilements between general ledger and bank statements
- Manages daily funding requirements by analyzing daily cash activities to determine funding requirements and work with the Corporate Treasury department to ensure funding levels are met
- Oversees the processing of daily lockbox activity including applying customer cash receipts to open invoices, resolve discrepancies and past due balances
- Oversees online bank deposits
- Research status of AR and AP transactions as requested and provide timely responses
- Responsible for initiating stop payment requests
- Maintain physical and electronic files for open and historical AP/AR documentation, and other banking duties as assigned
- Complete monthly AP balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the year-end and mid-year audits performed by external auditors by gathering and preparing supporting documents and schedules per their information requests.
- Proactively develops and implements procedures/policies to stream-line workflows
- Complete special assignments which may require collecting and organizing data, system implementations/testing projects and coordinating with personnel from other departments

The following are the basic qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Without having two years’ work experience in accounts payable or banking, some college coursework in accounting is also required
The following is the preferred qualification:
- Associate’s degree (or higher).

- Without having completed some college coursework in accounting, two years’ work experience administering cash management functions in a corporate finance or treasury department or in banking operations, including responsibility for posting cash receipts and reconciliation of accounts
The following is the preferred qualification:
- Two years’ work experience in accounting or banking
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)
The following are the basic qualifications:
- Knowledge of general ledger accounting practices
- Strong practical accounting/banking skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet strict daily deadlines
- Proficiency with spreadsheet and word-processing software, (e.g., Excel and MS Word)
The following are the preferred qualifications:
- Strong verbal, written, and documentation skills
- Strong detail-oriented, analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to perform critical self-reviews of work product to mitigate potential errors
- Ability to work independently and propose solutions
Equipment Used
Typical office equipment: PC, telephone, copier, fax machine, scanner, calculator.
Working Conditions
Typical climate-controlled office environment. Extensions of regular working hour are occasionally necessary to complete time-sensitive projects, attend training or to respond to emergencies.
Employee Supervision
- Supervises a team of 4 Cash Management Associates and is the first point of contact for inquiries, while working under the direct supervision of the Transactional Accounting Manager. This includes reviewing and approving timecards, training, and performance feedback.
