Agronomical Research:

  • Implementation of agreed Research Methodology for coffee crop estimation and constant review of the methodologies to estimate Robusta and Arabica crop production in Indonesia.
  • Plan, participate and travel extensively across provinces for carrying out surveys with farmers, stockholders and to Government offices to collect primary and secondary data as and when required by the Company. To do the surveys diligently by strictly following the guidelines and procedures that are already set.
  • Need based telephonic surveys.
  • Implement properly the visual estimation techniques during the crop tours and enhance the usage of visual estimates for crop estimation.
  • Send out reports highlighting the impact of weather on crop estimation, harvesting, and selling of coffee.
  • Exploring coffee regions in different provinces and add sample farmers in the newly explored coffee regions. Periodically review the samples distribution in the existing coffee regions.
  • Periodically review and report the Indonesia coffee area. 
  • Highlight the risks to the crop estimate by working out various scenarios. Assessment of the impact of various scenarios on yields and associated probabilities such as weather, pests, diseases and changing costs or supply of inputs or labor etc.
  • Conducting detailed cost of production studies.
     

Sustainability:

Responsible Sourcing:

  • The Agronomist is taking in charge of coordinating and supporting the sustainability activities of the Louis Dreyfus Coffee Platform in the field, including the management of field technicians in a designed area.
  • Experience on coordinate and implement verified/certified coffee supply chains in the field (Rainforest Alliance, 4C, Louis Dreyfus Company Responsible Sourcing Program)
  • Be the reference expert for Field Technician regarding best practices in sustainable coffee chains.
  • Coordinate, implement audits (external) and supports field technicians for internal inspections and continuous improvement.

Stronger Coffee Initiative: 

  • Support and coordinate the implementation of the Stronger Coffee Initiatives program's activities in designated area. 
  • SCI Activities include implementation of demo-plots, distribution of agroforestry trees, Farmer Field School, and more. 
  • Support and coordinate periodical Monitoring & Evaluation of SCI program metrics. 
  • Lead and implement trainings on good agricultural practices based on regenerative agriculture framework
  • 3-4 years experience as an agronomist or other relevant experience, preferably in the coffee field
  • Minimum Bachelor of Agriculture
  • Able to build strong relationships with farmers and related stakeholders.
  • Advance knowledge in Agriculture, especially in Coffee Agronomy
  • Good knowledge in Certification Processes
  • Experience in developing sustainable supply chains
  • Basic MS Office skill (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Willing to travel on regular basis for crop tours and to supervise the implementation of sustainability initiatives
  • Proficiency in English both verbal and written
