The Junior Logistics Analyst, based out of the Calgary, Alberta office, will be part of a collaborative Logistics & Transportation team and will assist with the coordination and execution of freight, railcar, railway, and truck billing and planning responsibilities. Duties include:
- Process railway, truck and lease invoices. Verify freight forecasts against invoiced freight to ensure payments are accurate.
- Administer freight invoice reviews, data entry and coordinates payment with accounting while ensuring accuracy and reporting.
- Coordinate customer orders, sales and load plans and assist with production planning.
- Communicate shipment status with customers while fostering good working relationships.
- Assist in reporting, invoicing and collection of demurrage charges for railcar detention charges.
- Billing of railcars, customs documentation, shipment diversion, scheduling customer orders and general transportation services.
- Administer railcar track, trace, and utilization monitoring. Coordinate diversions, movement on idle cars, address astray cars, look into bad order cars, customs prior notice and billing of cars.
- Perform data entry to assist with KPI reporting, Power BI dashboards, railway performance monitoring and other transportation needs.
- Monitor railway tariff rates, incidental charges, fuel charges, summarizing the data regularly and report changes. Compare various rates of interest and update rate matrices to highlight opportunities.
Experience

- At least 2 years of previous work experience within agriculture industry, rail industry, Logistics and/or Procurement is preferred.
- Post-secondary education with a focus in Commerce, Agriculture, or Supply Chain is considered an asset.
- Knowledgeable and enthusiastic with agriculture and/or rail industries.
- Excellent time management and scheduling skills, along with strong prioritization skills.
- Strong customer service and relationship building skills, along with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent accuracy skills, specifically with data entry, numbers, reporting, timelines, dates and details.
- Able to work collaboratively with a team, with members based out of different offices and/or countries.
- Proven negotiation and planning skills.
- Analytical and forward-thinking, with the ability to manipulate, monitor, comp0ile and report on large amounts of data.
- Proven experience with entire Microsoft Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Previous experience model building, with the ability to make sense of complex situations for planning.
