The Challenge
Grow our activities with a lower climate impact and help others to do the same.
Action in 2020
- Process improvements and efficiency gains across the business led to progress across all our environmental KPIs.
- Farmer training and guidance to adopt more sustainable farming practices, across our coffee, cotton, juice, soy and palm supply chains.
- Coffee: Engaged in ongoing project with Green Invest Asia to explore carbon intensity reductions in coffee production, and supported agroforestry projects in three countries.
- Freight: Reduced CO2 emissions by over 6% year on year and became a founding member of the Sea Cargo Charter.
- Juice: New eco-efficient fleet resulted in an 18% year-on-year reduction in CO2 emissions per metric ton of product transported, new equipment and measures drove a 5% reduction in C02 emissions at our citrus farms (vs. 2018), and planted thousands of native trees at our farms.
- Finance: Signed a financing agreement with EBRD supporting enhanced corporate governance to address climate change risks, and development of new tools for climate-related risk management.
