Louis Dreyfus Company Acquires Second Warehousein Entre Ríos Province, Further Expanding Its Presence in Argentina
Published: Apr 11, 2025

Buenos Aires, Argentina, April 11, 2025 – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) announced today the acquisition of a grains and oilseeds warehouse strategically located in Santa Elena, Entre Ríos province, beside the Paraná River. The new facility features a barge port with an hourly shipping capacity of 450 tons, offering competitive alternatives for product delivery to both of LDC’s port complexes in Santa Fe province: Timbúes and General Lagos, respectively located 260 km and 320 km south of Santa Elena, via fluvial routes.

Soybeans and other high oleic seeds grown in Entre Ríos province, such as camelina, canola and sunflower, will be directed to LDC’s Timbúes port complex, where new equipment is being installed to process the latter soft seeds starting in 2026, complementing existing soy crushing plant and port operations.

With a static storage capacity of 22,000 tons and an additional 55,000 tons of capacity through silo bags, Santa Elena will also host a commercial office. From there, LDC will offer local farmers its wide range of logistics and financial services, consultancy on sustainability matters (such as support in meeting certification requirements and adopting regenerative agriculture practices), and the sale of seeds, fertilizers and crop protection products commercialized under the Group’s Macro Seed, Macro Fertil and Macro Protect brands. The warehouse and commercial office will be ready to receive the next summer crop harvest by mid-April.

“The continued expansion of our inland origination capabilities in Argentina further enhances our ability to work closely with farmers, facilitating supply chain traceability to farm level,” said Juan Tizado, LDC’s Regional Head of Grains & Oilseeds Origination for South & West Latin America. “Following our purchase of a warehouse in Gobernador Mansilla in 2024, this acquisition of a second facility in Entre Ríos reinforces LDC’s position as a key player in the province and supports our strategic growth plans for the continued growth of our grains and oilseeds merchandizing activities – in the region and globally.”

Once fully operational, the facility will employ some 10 people on average, increasing to around 15 during peak harvest season.
