Buenos Aires, Argentina, May 5, 2025 – Louis Dreyfus Company (LDC) today inaugurated its new cotton logistics center in Zárate, Buenos Aires Province. This investment marks another important milestone in LDC’s strategy to further reinforce its core merchandizing activities – in this case, through further cotton value chain integration in Argentina, from farm to port, consolidating its position as one of the country’s leading cotton merchants.
“Our investment in Zárate logistics center is a concrete demonstration of LDC’s long-term commitment to the development of Argentina’s cotton sector and of our growth strategy in the country, where we continue to invest in key infrastructure with a goal to be closer to producers, optimize our operations and support the global competitiveness of Argentine cotton,” said Juan José Blanchard, LDC’s Group COO and Head of Latin America.
Strategically located near the Port of Buenos Aires, and covering a total area of 20,000 m², including 5,300 m² of covered space, a classing room and four electric forklifts, this newly enhanced center is also authorized for on-site container consolidation operations – a unique advantage in Argentina’s cotton sector. At the site, LDC receives cotton lint from its ginning plant in Quimilí, Santiago del Estero Province, as well as from the country’s main cotton-producing provinces. The lint is classified and stored in a covered and monitored area, until its dispatch.
The new center is designed to handle the unloading and dispatch of up to 800 tons of cotton lint daily, both for the domestic market and for export. This capability enables LDC to operate its own export logistics and domestic market dispatch in the country, contributing to a 30% reduction in unloading and dispatch times, during local cotton logistics operations.
“Zárate logistics center represents an important additional step in strengthening our operational network in Argentina, in particular thanks to the on-site consolidation regime that allows us to offer customers faster and more efficient services, while expanding regional producers’ access to international markets,” said Pablo Yezdrich, Regional Head of Cotton for South & West Latin America at LDC.
