Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Counsels and acts as a business partner with managers, supervisors, and employees on employment issues.
  • Participates in and or leads HR Center of Excellence teams and supports related project work
  • Works closely with industrial and commercial management teams, accounting, and regional HR in preparing and updating numerous versions of the annual budget and reforecasts.
  • Investigates employee relations issues and recommends appropriate actions (discipline, terminations etc.)
  • Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
  • Implements HR programs by providing HR services, including but not limited to employment processing, training & development, and employee relations and retention.
  • Supports key business leaders within region and helps to foster strategics discussions around people
  • Provides HR leadership for the Company’s regional Industrial Trainee & Internship Programs, attends recruitment fairs and seeks out opportunities for expanding internship and trainee programs.
  • Serves as a site subject matter expert on the company’s HRIS system (Workday), time & record system (Kronos), and employment policies.
  • Manages leave process for multiple locations ensuring appropriate paperwork is provided, completed and accurate. (FMLA, ADA, Military, Personal, other leaves). 
  • Participates in site staff meetings and attends other functional meetings as required.
  • Ensures activities are in compliance with all state and federal employment laws and regulations (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO and FLSA
  • Aids Senior HR Leadership in administration of Company’s performance management program.
  • Provides HR support during mergers/acquisitions and rightsizing efforts as directed.
  • Recruits top talent for the assigned HR client group and manages the entire requisition process

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

Accountable for and/or assigns responsibilities for the administration of the following:

  • Creates, maintains, and analyzes monthly reports pertaining to headcounts, employment costs, and open positions, and provides reconciliation support for regional accounting and HR departments as necessary.
  • Backs up and supports other HR Managers within the region as needed

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

Basic qualification: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree majoring social science field (psychology, communications, etc.)

 

Preferred qualification: 

  • Bachelor’s degree majoring in Human Resource or similar
  • Master’s Degree in business related field
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, and/or Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) certification
  • Member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)

 

Experience

Basic qualification: 

  • Five to Eight (5-8) years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Experience supporting multiple locations
  • Previous experience supporting a corporate office

 

Preferred qualification:

  • Previous experience working as HR in plant manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience supporting unionized, and multiple, locations helpful

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

Basic qualifications: 

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong, positive relationships with both internal and external clients.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation
  • Ability to represent the Company in professional meetings and recruitment events
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations (ie. EEO, ADA, ADEA, Title VII, OSHA, wage & hour laws).

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of Workday HRIS software and Kronos timekeeping software

  • Typical office equipment:  PC, telephone, fax machine.

 

Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment.  Occasional travel to industrial locations may be required.  When traveling, possible exposure to industrial operations areas that are dusty, noisy or have extreme variations in temperature. Extensions of regular working hour are occasionally necessary to complete time-sensitive projects or to respond to emergencies.
