Overall Purpose and Objective of Position

This position is responsible for providing purchasing support by issuing  Purchase Orders and maintaining purchasing systems in support of 24/7 production operations in North America.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Reviews and source Requisitions, converts and processes Requisitions into Purchase Orders using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Serves as the procurement point of contact to assigned facilities for resolving all issues with requisitions, purchase orders.  
  • Assists with systems user training and technology implementation including regional data collection and reporting.
  • Conducts RFQ/RFP to support the decision making process for procurement of goods and services.
  • Participates in cross-functional training and other continuous improvement effort initiatives. 
  • Assists in maintaining purchasing data and systems.
  • Supports the implementation of procurement strategies, policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

Basic qualification:

  • High School Education.
     

Preferred qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, Science or Supply Chain Management

Experience

The following is the basic qualification:

  • 3 (plus) years of experience in a purchasing role, preferably in support of an industrial or manufacturing environment.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

Basic qualifications:

  • Knowledge of purchasing processes and workflows
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Knowledge of industrial categories including Chemicals, MRO supplies.
  • Ability to read, interpret and administer contract specifications within the Procurement process
  • Ability to continuously improve in a team environment, working with Accounting and other departments involved in the Purchase to Pay process
  • Ability to work under pressure with time constraints
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with solid decision making skills related to the sourcing of Materials and Services with consideration given to Total Cost of Ownership.
  • Software knowledge: Microsoft Office suite (advanced skill-set). Experience with ePac, Microsoft Dynamics GP and SAP is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organization and follow-through skills

  • Typical office equipment: PC, telephone, fax

Working Conditions

  • Primarily climate-controlled office environment.  Requires travel to Company field locations, subject to requirements and management guidance. Extensions of regular working hours are occasionally necessary to complete time-sensitive projects, attend training or to respond to emergencies.
