Overall Purpose and Objective of Position
This position is responsible for unloading grain and grain by-products in addition to performing regular cleaning tasks required to maintain a grain elevator facility.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Unload grain and grain by-products from trucks
Opening gates and doors on grain trucks via large hand tools
Must be able to operate brooms, shovels, hammers, sledge hammers, lift and carry heavy buckets
Maintain a clean and safe work environment and facility which includes a lot sweeping and blowing down with compressed air
Must be able to distinguish the different grain types and report any abnormalities to supervision
Be able to work a combination of 8, 10, & 12 hour shifts consisting of days, nights & weekends as needed
Work is physically demanding, dirty and exposed to outside elements, must be capable of climbing and working from ladders and scaffolding
Follow instructions of Superintendent, Lead, and/or Commercial Manager
Follow all LDC safety rules and procedures
Responsible for a clean work area, clean facility and general maintenance
Must wear all required PPE for the jobs being performed consisting of at least, hard hat, safety glasses, hi visibility clothing, safety boots at a minimum and at times gloves, hearing protection and dust masks.
Assist in all areas of the facility as needed

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)
The following are the basic qualifications:
Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of hand tools, power tools, chain falls, cable pullers (come-alongs), grinders, drill presses, etc…
Must be able to work over water on grain barges in wet conditions, handling lines and opening/closing barge lids
Must have ability to work from ladders and scaffolds at heights at times with personal fall protection
Be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs.
Must be able to work in dusty conditions
Must be able to work frequently in inclement weather including rain, ice, wind and the heat
Must be aware and attentive to surroundings which may include automatic starting conveyors belts, bucket elevators, drag chain and other moving machinery
Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, squat, and crawl occasionally and stand and walk for extended periods of time
