This position is responsible for performing daily and monthly financial accounting activities for the corporate entities for an international commodity trading firm. This position will review monthly budget vs. actual analysis over operating expenditures and will be responsible for monthly interest analysis. In addition, this position will review reconciliations and analysis before inputs into the financial reporting tool.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Review all journal entries for the corporate entities.
- Review all monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review reconciliations of sub ledger systems and general ledger.
- Review reconciliations of fixed assets for corporate entities and allocate to business platforms.
- Review corporate interest allocation and allocation to the business platforms.
- Assist in reconciliation of intercompany activity in intercompany reconciliation system.
- Reviews trial balances and all supporting schedules for input into financial reporting tool.
- Assist in completion of input of financial data into financial reporting tool, including monthly and quarterly input.
- Review monthly variance analysis on all operating expenditures incurred vs. budgeted amounts.
- Review daily bank reconciliations.
- Assist with preparation and review quarterly workpapers to support liquidity, aging, and various debt schedules.
- Assist with preparation and review quarterly analysis, which includes year over year P&L and changes in balance sheet.
- Assist in the financial audit and coordinate requested documentation.
- Assist in the annual budget process, including working with functional heads.
- Assist in coding of G&A invoices daily and ensure consistency with budgeted accounts as well as proper accounting treatment
- Work with Treasury on a monthly basis to coordinate interest accruals and validation of debt.
- Sign off on weekly check runs.

- Addresses special requests/projects, such as performing additional analyses of financial data and preparing ad-hoc reports.

The following is the basic qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Experience
The following is the basic qualification: Three to five years of experience in accounting or related discipline.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required/Preferred (including any physical demands)
- Knowledge of General Ledger accounting practices, specifically account reconciliations, accruals and journal entries applicable to for-profit businesses
- Intermediate level of proficiency in MS Excel
- Ability to work independently and effectively prioritize multiple tasks to accommodate strict deadlines
- Strong analytical skills
