Brief

In a fast-paced trading-floor environment, this position requires high availability and flexibility to facilitate trades and engage with G&O and Sugar platforms as well as with the Freight team to guarantee the competitiveness of company’s CNF business. Reporting line will be to G&O and Sugar platforms and dotted to the Freight platform. Occasional traveling to integrate in the G&O and Sugar team meetings.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Being primarily responsible or co-responsible for identifying and accessing competitive external voyage freight rates on some specific grains and sugar cargo flows, in line with corporate chartering policy
  • Identify opportunities across the businesses and remove communication and effective business flow bottlenecks.  Regularly report with quantified analysis, on these problematic and beneficial areas identified.
  • Utilize in-house research and knowledge to anticipate freight market demands and trends, both short and long-term advising the platforms of findings.
  • Be a conduit of information / intelligence from Freight to Sugar/G&O and vice versa, participating to global calls and cross-platforms regular meetings.

 

Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of relevant working experience in chartering/trading.
  • Experience in being primarily or co-responsible for a supramax and or panamax flows ideally with the focus of Atlantic to Fareast routes.
  • Experience in reviewing / understanding risks related to chartering and execution of the vessels.
  • Some experience and/or interest in analyzing balance sheets and interacting with research resources.

 

Skills

  • General proficiency with various maritime softwares and Microsoft suite particularly Excel. Working knowledge of IMOS a plus.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of Charterparty terms, ideally relating to standard agricultural commodity voyage charterparties, eg Synacomex, Norgrain, Baltimore, Sugar99 etc.
  • Expertise in performing advanced freight calculations.
  • Ample relationships / contact portfolio, which can be readily accessed to enhance our existing business.
  • Capacity and willingness to actively participate in broad business strategy.
  • Capacity to develop and present reports which include KPIs on role’s performance.

 

Languages

  • English (Fluent)
  • Any other language is a plus

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in numerically based subject or other business discipline is preferred. Other higher education will be considered.
